Here’s a video from 2003 (ignore the false 1997 label, Avril wasn’t born yet, kidding kidding!) from MTV’s Icon Metallica show. Avril and her band do a decent cover of Fuel, compared to some of the other pretty mediocre offerings of other bands performing. Haters just move along please.

ok im going to say one thing, if you were a rock lover, not some little “scene” kid and actually LISTENED to music, then you would know that the 1997 label pertains to the year the song was relesaed since it was released in the RELOAD album. They could care less about avril in 1997. Her 15 minutes of fame came now they are over and in 5 years she will be some crack whore in Las Vegas

Mainstream punk is dead. The only bands remotely true to the punk movement left are underground and local bands.

“punk” is pretty mainstream nowadays… real punk wasn’t “mainstream”, it did have a lot of followers but it was called rebellion because it was a minority, duh
it seems that, in the end of all this avril rocks/avril sucks argument, the real question is about the genre: is punk alive? do we really all give a damn about avril, or the idea behind the music? If it were your mom up there singing metallica you’d have the same question.
oh yeah, and all these “punk” bands of today, if there’s so many problems with the gov’t/world to write about, why doesn’t any of that money you soak up go to help those issues? there are bands out there that really do give away some cash, but it seems that doing so is taboo for a lot of bands, because that wouldn’t leave anything to complain about, and that wouldn’t rake in more money, would it?
