Definition:
The flower known as Cheiranthus cheiri was considered a 'wallflower' because it grew on the sides of walls. The similarity of that and single women sitting next to a wall was noted and these women were considered wallflowers (This took place a long time ago, you were not thought of yet). Now the word has become unisex and every man woman and beast has equal opportunity of being a wallflower, we say hurray for that... hurray.
